Multigenerational Dispute Resolution for Family Enterprises

InnScope Family Office Partners works with families that own operating businesses and significant real estate when ownership transitions are threatened by conflict rather than by economics.

We are retained at the moments that put family wealth and family relationships most at risk: the death of a founder, a generational handoff, a contested buyout, or a liquidity event.

"Our role is singular and narrow. We keep the family aligned long enough for the legal, tax, and financial structures that surround a transition to close. The deal lives or dies on whether each family member feels heard and respected."

How We Help

  • Resolve disputes among family owners before they derail a transaction or fracture the family.
  • Guide ownership transitions, succession, and buyouts across generations.
  • Serve as a steady, neutral presence for families, their banks, and their advisors during high stakes change.
  • Protect the relationships and the enterprise value that unmanaged conflict so often destroys.

Who We Serve

Families, family offices, and closely held businesses, together with the banks, wealth advisors, and attorneys who guide them.

We work alongside legal and tax counsel, never in place of them, handling the family dynamics that sit outside the documents.

Where We Engage

We are built for the moments when family ownership and a major transaction collide. Typical engagements include:

Founder Succession & Handoffs

Managing structural transitions and leadership inheritance in family owned businesses and extensive real estate portfolios.

Shareholder Buyouts

Navigating buyouts of family shareholders, including intensely contested and complex multi-party ownership frameworks.

Ownership Conflict

Intervening when disputes among family owners actively threaten a transaction, a sitting board, or the stability of the enterprise itself.

Liquidity & Distressed Events

Steadying both the people and the assets during liquidity events, recapitalizations, and distressed situations that call for an objective, neutral third party.

About the Principal

Peter M. Schiffer

Principal & Managing Member

Peter M. Schiffer

I came to dispute resolution through three decades in real estate, including distressed and contested situations where I was brought in as a neutral party. As a court appointed receiver and manager, I stabilized assets and the people in conflict around them.

As Executive Vice President of a family run investment firm, I helped develop and manage a portfolio of senior housing, shopping center, hotel, and mixed use properties, and saw firsthand how succession and family dynamics shape a real estate enterprise. Earlier in my career, I originated over $300 million in real estate financings for Credit Suisse and Nomura Holdings and founded InnScope Hospitality to pursue real estate ventures of my own.

At InnScope Family Office Partners, I now bring that steady, neutral discipline to families navigating ownership transitions, working alongside their banks, advisors, and attorneys, never in place of them.
